In the world of supercars, timing is everything.  Over the weekend Nissan debuted their 2017 GT-R NISMO at the Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach, California, and announced the accompanying price tag of $174,990.

Building upon the 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium, the GT-R features a predominantly carbon fiber body with a handmade dry carbon rear spoiler, black outside mirrors with red stripe embellishments, and carbon fiber side sills.  The spoiler, which is incredibly strong, features a special coating that allows carbon fiber “weave” to be felt by the touch.  Changes to the body design such as the new, enlarged “V-motion” grille, prove to be both stylish and functional, as it provides better engine cooling and comes in a matte chrome finish and an updated mesh pattern.  The more pronounced hood has also been reinforced to enhance stability during high-speed driving.

High-flow, high-capacity turbochargers similar to those used for GT3 racing allow the VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine to propel the GT-R NISMO forward.  Additional upgrades such as fuel pumps optimize combustion to create 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque.  An advanced 6-speed dual clutch transmission and standard lightweight Titanium exhaust system enhance the race car-like driving experience.  Inside the GT-R NISMO’s cabin, a redesigned dashboard features an 8-inch touch-panel monitor, leather seats with red synthetic suede inserts, and a suede covered steering wheel.  A dark gray base color with red detailing tie everything together.
