Lotus is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their famous Hethel Site with the release of the Elise 250 Special Edition.  Available on a first-come, first-served basis, this lightweight addition is based on Lotus’s critically acclaimed Elise Cup 250 and features the same suspension and braking system.  Its carbon fiber and aluminum body sits atop silver (or black) ultralight forged wheels and is available in four colors: metallic blue, red, yellow and white.

Sleek curves, a front splitter, rear wing, tailgate and front access panel contribute to the Elise 250 Special Edition’s aerodynamics while a high-output, supercharged, 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine wields 243hp and 184lb-ft of torque to reach 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.   The Elise 250 Special Edition also holds the fastest recorded time for a production road-going Elise models; it car lapped the company’s Hethel test circuit in just 1 minute and 34 seconds!  Inside the Elise 250 Special Edition exotic, hand-finished leather seats and interior trim are available in blue/silver or in black/silver with a contrasting, hand-stitched finish, as well as an entertainment center with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth functionality.
