Among the many classic cars and high-tech cars exhibited at Monterey Car Week none managed to successfully blend old with new the way the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 did. Designed to “pay homage to the glorious age of aero coupes”, the Maybach 6 features a classic silhouette with a low, prolonged hood, clearly defined contours, and an extended boat tail rear. Despite its classic exterior the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is anything but simple; the nearly 19ft electric vehicle has an impressive 200+ mile range. Its emission-free electric driving system generates 738 HP, reaches 0-62mph in <4 seconds, and has a top speed (governed) of 155 mph. Under the hood hides an additional treat – two custom created Mercedes-Benz suitcases.
Luxe features such as the pinstripe suit-inspired radiator grille, gullwing doors, narrow lights, and 24-inch wheels developed from Mercedes’s Concept IAA (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile), gives the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 a modern flare. Inside the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, dubbed the 360° lounge, rose gold accents and a cool color palate lay the foundation for the tech-themed interior. Fine leather seats swap traditional buttons for miniature “body sensor displays” to scan and monitor passengers. A continuous curved glass insert with digitally integrated display elements tie everything together, while gesture-controlled projectors display data across the full width of the windscreen, giving the 360° lounge a sci-fi feel.
